2022-10-01 Science and Technology Green Revolution/Transcene Silicon Materials Secondary Development

Transcene's main business is to recycle waste from the semiconductor industry and re-produce silicon and silicon dioxide. It is a major cooperative factory of TSMC. In response to the expansion of its application scope, Transcene is building a new factory in CTSP, which is expected to be put into operation in 2023.

Transcene is a management team composed of Steven Chen, Hsieh Yamin, Pyroxene Chou, who graduated from the Department of Resource Engineering of National Cheng Kung University. It raised 300 million yuan and was established and put into operation in 2019.

The company hopes to occupy a place in urban mining with its innovative thinking in a three-stage path of waste inspection and diagnosis, resource secondary market development, and re-design resource commodity production technology.

In recent years, as the silicon produced has been widely used as a raw material for steelmaking by steel industries such as China Steel Corporation and YIEH UNITED STEEL CORPORATION, and silicon dioxide has been widely used in tire and paint manufacturing processes, the factory's production capacity has increased from an initial 2,000 to 3,000 metric tons a year to 5,000 metric tons.

After factory feasibility assessment, land and capital planning, Transcene's new CTSP plant broke ground in Central Taiwan Science Park on December 29, 2021, symbolizing a new milestone; this is the world's first CMP grinding sludge circular economy plant, with a total area of 7,000 square meters. This silica powder manufacturing plant is expected to be mass-produced next year, with all raw materials coming from the TSMC plant.

Transcene also pointed out that in the face of future market challenges and the lack of natural resources, we will continue to provide relevant resources to establish a circular economy model for the semiconductor industry.
